A successful school district has many needs, but at the core of these needs are collaboration, communication and trust.

A successful district encourages and supports collaboration with all members in the educational community.

The Vista Unified educational community consists of students, families, staff, and Vista residents. Each of these members bring unique experiences and viewpoints to the important discussions and decisions occurring in Vista Unified.

Through district community meetings and board meeting comments, VUSD allows for input from the general community. However, collaboration requires meaningful dialogue within our educational community.

As your board member, I will actively support open, collaborative dialogue within our educational community.

A successful district engages all members in the educational community with active and clear communication.

Communication is essential for a school district. This is especially true when a school district initiates large systematic changes that directly impact students. Students, parents, staff and community members need and want accurate, timely information as well as the opportunity to voice their concerns and have their questions answered.

As your board member, I will support reciprocal communication procedures within VUSD.

Transparency is vital for trust.

Trust is vital for a school district. We trust district leaders to have the best educational intentions with our students. We trust district leaders to value and respect the work performed by our employees. In VUSD, district leaders, through their actions and decisions, have to earn the trust of the VUSD educational community.

Trust requires issues to be openly and transparently addressed in the district. This is particularly true when it directly impacts our students. Anything less leads to a decline in trust.

The restoration of trust within VUSD will be my immediate main priority.

Change is coming to VUSD.
